Experience

Since the inception of his legal career as an independent lawyer in 2017, Barış has been practicing law in various legal areas, mainly in the protection of personal data, IT law, commercial law, contract law and criminal law. He joined YAZICIOGLU Legal in October 2024.

Education

Recognized as the top graduate of his cohort, Barış holds an LLB from Izmir Economy University. His academic journey also encompasses earning an MA degree from University of Groningen in the Netherlands (Jean Monnet Scholarship recipient), as well as an LLM from Koc University in Istanbul, Türkiye, where he dedicated a dissertation to the legal assessments of electoral cyber interventions.

He obtained his Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certificates issued by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in 2024.

Barış has commenced his doctoral studies within the PhD program at VUB’s Cyber & Data Security Lab, effective from October 2023. His dissertation titled “Quantum Horizons in 5G Edge Computing: Traversing the GDPR’s Legal Maze” concentrates on the implications of quantum algorithms and quantum-resistant encryption techniques into 5G-enabled edge computing applications, addressing the challenges it may pose to existing EU data protection legal benchmarks.
